Hi, I reside in Rochester, NY and am looking to meet local climbers that travel to either the Gunks or the Adirondacks or I just read about Golden Horseshoe in Ontario, Canada. Interested in weekend trips starting in the next few weeks. Please reply if you're in the area and interested. I have rope and full rack. Thanks.
Have you checked in at the Red Barn at RIT? That's probably your best place to get wired into the local climbing community if you haven't already, though there's a lot of boulderers.
+1 on the Barn at RIT. There is also a climbing gym on University. Back in the day when it first opened it was pretty hard core, but it has since turned into a romper room of sorts. Birthdy parties and cub scout gatherings and such. There is a strong group of Buffalo guys who road trip to Canada, the Gunks, West Virginia et al on a pretty regulr basis. PM me and I'll fire off some contact info. I live in Naples, about 40 minutes south of Ra-cha-cha. I'm an ice climber, who only rock climbs to stay sharp for the upcoming ice season.
I live here...for about five more months then im fleeing to Colorado its to tough to live so far away from everything. The Red Barn at RIT is definitely a place to check out and possibly meet some people. A surprising amount of outdoor climbers there. Send me a message and we can talk.
PSA: If you love climbing and the outdoors in general, dont move to Rochester. Love Rochester ive lived here almost my whole life but were too far from anything of significance. The fingerlakes are awesome but no climbing to speak of. Hence the move
