Vertical Jones - - - The Midwest's Own Climbing Magazine

So, it turns out that the Midwest had it's very own climbing magazine! And when I say Midwest, I mean upper Midwest, as this was put out of Minneapolis. Not on the internets, but on paper. That means you could take it to the cliffs and hold it in your hands and read it there instead of actually climbing. No batteries required. Mosquito swatter.

I am looking to complete my collection. I have Issues 1,2,3, 5, 6, and 7. Let me know if you've got any I am missing and want to pass them on, for free or monies.

I am posting this, essentially a WTB post, here, as not to bore those in the Dirtbag Exchange thread with Midwest history.

Question: Is the Midwest in need of a magazine again? Could one sustain itself? Online or print? What would it look like??

Holy shit you have all of those? Someday I want to take a peak at them! They went out just as I was getting into climbing. I haven't even seen one in 10 years...

I would love to see a midwest mag!

Ha, for sure. I'll bring them with next time. I picked them up from the former editor/publisher Stephen Regenold, The Gear Junkie himself.

I do have an idea for a Midwest online magazine.

You should start an online mag, then print one a year with the best stuff in it as a recap. I will write for ya, as long as you find a really good copy editor! ;)

Roll strong Petah. I'm ready to support this concept in some way. I might even like this on Facebook.

Go forth Petah and create!

I'd help out if you want to start a new Upper Midwest Magagazine, I have a bunch of back issues of VJ hiding somewhere, I'll see which ones I have.

Cheers,
James

Thanks for the positive reception you all!

I envision something like the Minneapolis-based cycling mag, Bunyan Velo. I really love the photos and the design.

Check it out: bunyanvelo.com/issues/

I've met the fellow that started this and just sent him a slew of questions.

James: Shoot me a message if you wanna unload you VJ collection!

I'll look tonight and let you know what I've got.

EDIT: Although I'm not entirely sure I want to part with them :-)

I think I got copy one or two way back then,,,it was a small black and white mag,,,about the size of a paperback, and maybe 20 pages long? Wonder what I did with that issue.
