Finally...

I have climbed since they invented dirt, I often visit my family in Phoenix and I love to indoor climb. So when a new gym opens there I'm psyched.
Thus, one disappointment after another. Short bouldering walls(mostly tweaky vertical), overbearing staff, no air movement, dangerously padded, endless waivers and THE TOUR takes forever.

Finally... someone got it RIGHT!!!

Focus, in Mesa(southwest Phoenix)(Spoiler Alert: It's almost entirely a bouldering gym)

Here's how:
1. They are not arrogant and full of weird rules.
2. They are friendly and the orientation is to the point.
3. Lots of boulder problems very well(gymnastically) set.
4. The walls are plentiful and tall! Some problems go all the way, some stop short and then you can continue on another route - clever!
5.The padding is the same as at The Spot. The thickness everywhere is that of the Beach Wall. Sweet!
6. They have huge bowls of free chalk! I loved it. Ken thinks it's gonna start the next plague! Who knows?!
7. The website is simple and the electronic waiver is short and easy.

So if you are ever so unlucky as to find yourself in Phoenix, you gotta check this place out!

All sounds awesome except this. Gross. Plague sounds about right to me.

Agreed. Almost wish they would ban all chalk in climbing gyms and just wash their holds more often. That would be awesome... instead of breathing all that nastiness in.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
