Kinda surprised this hasn't been mentioned here...

"Was bounce testing a blue/green fixe offset alien last weekend. This piece was about a year old, little use and no falls. The piece popped, and the cam fell apart (see picture) .

as you can see one of the pieces that hold the lobes onto the head came off.

Is this a warranty issue? Or are these cams expected to not always survive bounce testing?"

Manufacturer's defect. That failure is not indicative of misuse or abuse.

Wow those things are either the stickiest cam out there or the shittiest cam out there depending on the unit it seems. I see no need to ever risk it with those POS cams when Mastercams are just about as good performace wise but have never had the durability issues these aliens continue to have

of note i believe from what i perused the ST thread that the totem basic's are riveted and not press fit so there is still a model of alien out there that doesn't fall apart as of yet.

So now we have X4s opening themselves with the trigger bar, aliens breaking under a bounce test, and .5 C4s failing to open when the axle gets bent...

...maybe the tricam mafia is onto something

Tricams (and passive pro) certainly have some advantages.... :)

Fixe USA is not going to recall anything because Fixe USA is not a manufacturer, it's a retailer. The real manufacturer is Fixe Faders in Spain, and I dont think corporate liability is much of an issue in Spain when the unemployment rate is 27%.

What do liability and unemployment have to do with each other.

Don't say, if they lose a huge liable case and go bankrupt, they'll add to the unemployment rate.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
