Flatirons conditions for Thursday
|
Can anybody from Boulder give me the low down on what the flat irons are looking like? I would imagine there is still snow on the 1st and 3rd? I was looking to maybe head up there thursday, but don't really want to drive up if it's not looking decent. |

The Third is under seasonal raptor closure. Based on what I can see from my house there is still some lingering snow (nothing major) on the larger ledges, but I would expect additional melting today. |
|
Can't comment on conditions right now, but I can tell you that the Third is closed due to raptor nesting. |

As often the case this time of year, the sun-exposed rock is decent, and the shady rock can hold snow/ice. Approaches are similar, if it is shady, expect your feet to get wet/slip. There's almost always something to climb in the Flatirons. |

Flatirons are dry!! I was in the dinosaur mtn area yesterday and I saw no snow at all. Some shaded areas are going to have snow but there's plenty of dry routes and fun to be had! |

FWIW, there is a section of the Mesa Trail near Skunk Canyon which is getting quite slick. A friend slipped on the mud and dropped down into the drainage below. Also, there's a decent bit of snow in the lowest part of Skunk Canyon with water running beautifully through the scoured section. |
