I'm pretty sure that one is located on the ceiling of my dentist office...

Could be L'aiguille de Roc (Pic de Roc): laboiteverte.fr/photo-myste…

But the mountains in the background look different...

Based on climber proportions, I am going to disagree with the joshua tree possibility.

In the pictures of aiguille de Joshua Tree(the first linked photo) on MP, the climber takes up a majority of the space at the apex of the pinnacle. In the motivational poster, the climber is significantly smaller in proportion to the pinnacle. Plus it looks like a mountain range slightly larger than the Little San Bernadino Mountains.

As for L'Aiguille de Roc: vimeo.com/23313569

At about 60 seconds in you can see the top of the spire. Which appears to be much larger than the rock in the moto poster, which I think is the side shot. The face is probably much bigger. de Rock also seems to have a lot more green lichen, a dubious reason to discount it as the suspect. Which sucks, because now I really want to know.

Not sure what it is, but it's the same spire from the back cover of the 8th edition of Freedom of the Hills. I too am curious what it is. Looks fun!

Oh man nice catch. With a quick reference to the copyright page and:

So happy you found that.

I did a route on Salbitschen in Switzerland last summer that has a last pitch that looks exactly like your photo. Cool peak just outside Andermat.

And the picture is referenced under the route of Aiguille de Joshua Tree. Along with all the other photos of Agiuille de Joshua Tree.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
