So we rolled up to Fayetteville tonight expecting to stay at Chestnut, but apparently it's closed. Went to Ray's: closed. We're backwoodsing tonight, but would love water access Fri-Sat night... Any ideas? Mountain state wants $15/night/person which is preposterous.

There's the free camping below the Summersville Dam. You can get water from the park across the street and there is a privy. I'm not sure about the showering situation.

AAC has a number of raised platforms to post up on, discount if you're a member, and is walking distance from the Junkyard.

The AAC campground is open, and we had a fair amount of people there this past weekend. The platforms are pretty cush for wet, slopey WV. Water is still an issue; I used to tell people to fill their jugs at the Spring just down the hill from the campground, but the NPS just closed it because of mercury and arsenic content (woops!). Right now we've got jugs and tanks for people to use, and hopefully will have a spigot in sooner, rather than later.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
