Rental Ice gear?

Does anyone know where I might be able to rent tools and crampons in MD or Southern PA? I don't have friends to borrow off of and just want to get out locally while the cold weather lasts. I've never climbed ice before but want to try tr-ing some smaller stuff. Thanks

Around here (southern NY) ice gear - boots, crampons, and ice tools - runs $56/day. At that rate you should consider buying some high quality used things off mp, cascadeclimbers, or NEice. If you don't like the sport you can resell them for a decent price. Don't buy junk though - you won't get a good feel for what modern climbing is like, and you'll be likely to end up with things that won't sell. PM me if you want more info and maybe a pointer or two toward some useful gear.

But your best bet is to find someone to get out there with that can share gear with you.
