Fine choices if I do say so myself. When are you going? If soon, your options are pretty limited because many of the forest service roads are closed for the winter. Redondo Campground is not far away but, according to the website, is closed for winter too. So I'm thinking the American Springs road down near Los Alamos might be open and has dispersed national forest camping opportunities.
Failing that, there is nice dispersed camping along Camp May road going up to Pajarito Mountain ski area outside of Los Alamos. This camping is about 30 minutes from UEF/Las Conchas though. But you'd be close to Los Alamos with a number of restaurants and some convenient sport climbing at The Dungeon and gets you close to the White Rock crags.

If you're visiting in a month or so, FS289 (a.k.a. Dome Road) will be open is definitely the closest, best dispersed NF camping. summitpost.org/dome-wildern…

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
