Which piece of "gear" will make me happy?

A pair of fluffy, fuzzy slippers with good tread to keep your toes toasty between climbs! Better protection against snakes/spiders than flip flops...

what you need is a 80m dental floss thin single rope, 1/3 of your rack, and a rad partner. now go link pitches on immaculate norwegian granite, through the midnight sun to the top in one push. spend the next day paddling and fishing.

repeat in corsica or verdon or yosemite or pembrokeshire when the buzz starts to fade.

This thread was a gem for laughs, I'd love to see some updates to it. I found by searching Eno. I'm converting over to hammock camping this winter for next year, going Eno doublenst, underquilt, guardian bug net, the big square profly tarp, and the atlas straps. My outdoor endeavors are 2/3's climbing and 1/3 backpacking.

I know! Great thread. Scott^^ how much does your hammock set up weigh and total cost? I'm considering going that way also. Thanks in advance. Ok, carry on!

Trip to the Virgin Islands....boat ride to Virgin Gorda for some Caribbean caving and high ball bouldering on the beach just feet from the water. Don't leave without free diving for spiny lobster. Epic.

I'm going about 6.25 pounds. That's a doublenest, tarp, bug net, straps, ridge material, and underquilt. It's heavier than a good backpacking tent, but it packs better, and I'll make that weight up when I get a lighter sleeping bag. I've been making due with a 10 degree bag for everything, I'm finally gonna get a 40 degree bag for the marjority of my backpacking and lighten it up. That puts me at $400.

Start ice climbing, then you'll have all sorts of gear to invest in!

Hennessy Hammocks are better, lighter, cheaper and because the hammock and bug net are one piece: less of a cluster to carry in your pack. In my UL backpacking days I carried the UltraLight model and it weighed just over 1 lb. Even the heavier duty models are substantially lighter than what you just described. Check them out if you haven't already.

Side Note: I'm a stomach sleeper, so I sold mine and use a bivy sack.

Not lighter, but I'll sacrifice a lil weight for comfort. And per Chet's advice, I'll look up Hennessy hammocks see if I can some of the weight back off.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
