How do you find FA info?

Hello MPers,

After a bit of fruitless searching I'm still curious about FA information for a line I climbed. If the line in question is not on this site, or summitpost, and it's not in any books I've seen, where should I look next? Is word of mouth likely going to be most useful? At what point of looking for FA info does someone usually claim a first ascent?

Thanks,
Shelton

Ask the guidebook authors what they know, if you can get in touch with them. They probably know the history and other pioneers in the area.

Thanks for the responses. I found an author and sent a message his way.

Post it as an FA on the internet and everyone trying to burst your bubble will find the name of someone who probably climbed it (even if they never did)

+1
And they did it onsight and solo. In flip flops. Without chalk. Carrying hexes.
Good topic

Bolt first ask questions later. We need a new archangel thread!

Thats funny. But this may be a different situation. Sounds like there was no evidence of an FA
