Chalk bag zipper pocket?

Some chalk bags have a zipper pocket in the back and I can't figure out why. I think it's stupid cause it just adds weight and decreases your chance of taking anything to the post office. How many people actually use this feature and what the hell do you put in there?

Typically these four items live in my zipper pocket. I never have to wonder where they are, they never get left in the car, and I never accidentally wash them in my pant's pocket.

1) Micro-headlamp
2) Small knife
3) Emergen-C or other similar drink mix
4) Nail clippers

If a zipper is your excuse for not sending you need to find a better excuse.

Utility bag for indoor setting. Small bits mostly.

Think about it some more, you'll figure it out eventually.

Ohhhh, it was the zipper, not my lame skills and out of shape arms that kept me from sending. So glad to have a new excuse.

I tried to Ken, blew out the zipper cause the pocket was too small.

I keep 2 rappel rings and a knife in mine. It's a good place for emergency supplies.

The first rule of the zippered pocket club is you do not talk about the zippered pocket club.

Knife, prussiks, tibloc, plastic mini pulley, rap rings. Yeah I know, a lot of stuff but a nice mini self rescue kit on remote multi pitch routes. Some folks who ask however may only have use of it for their gym belay cert card...

You've never had a mani-pedi night on the bivy ledge? Great way to bond with your climbing partner and I hate climbing with torn cuticles.

It lives there because on climbing trips personal hygiene can take a backseat and I have found myself, more than once, at the base of a route wishing I had trimmed my nails. Rather than transferring the clippers from one pack to another, losing them in my car, or forgetting them at the house and suffering too-long nails in too-tight shoes I just leave it in the chalk bag and always have it on hand.

It's not a zipper pocket, it's a stash pouch; and it's for your stash.

I keep black gloves, ski mask, duck tape, knife and 8-10 ft. of 5 mil cord, also a little bottle of Chloroform.

Use Blu Ray cleaner. You can buy a cleaning kit from Walmart that comes with bottle of cleaner and a micro fiber cloth. A knockout kit and ammo in one place! How convenient is that?

Though I still don't make chalk bags with zippered pockets, there are actually reasons beyond weed that people want them.

- Epi Pen or other medicines, for those who prefer to be prepared when the shit hits the fan instead of collapsing, going into shock, or dying on their climbing partner mid-climb.
- Lip Balm, for those who live in dry, windy environments where going half a dozen hours with exposed lips is going to be one of those "WTF didn't I put my balm in my packet?" experiences.
- prussiks, for those who don't use them very frequently, but want them if they need them
- keys, for those who don't worry about the zipper somehow opening and their keys somehow falling out and becoming irretrievably lost down some cranny...somewhere...in the 200 feet they just climbed.

and..then of course -weed.

Keys. No zippers on my pants pockets, and guaranteed never to be lost, since they're with my stash.
