best quick draws

For projecting sport climbs, I have to add my vote for the BD Livewires (the green ones). Fat, easy-to-grab dogbone, and in my book the best clipping action out there.

I've tried the new Petzl Spirits just a little, and they seem comparable - the flattened gate is an improvement over the old spirits.

Mad Rock makes their own version of those, and you can buy them in the USA. They are a gimmick IMO. Come on, pre-opening the gates? Why not just build a rope clipping device that automatically clips the rope to the draw as you pass it?

just got a stack of the new spirit express'. Love them. I did buy that stupid mad rock biner too. I always thought it was lame, but my main climbing partner made a draw with one and never carried a stick clip. Made me a believer. So I slapped one of those on an express dog bone and bent gate (well, it had to match the rest of my draws, duh) and use that (with any actual stick you find laying around in the woods) to stick clip with. No tape, no rubber bands, no carrying a painters pole, no BS.

I like BD LiveWires... Totally expensive and won't make you a better climber, but I like them. They feel good and clip nicely which just makes me happy. They're a lot heavier than something like WC Helium or DMM Alpha Light draws. Helium/Alpha Light draws have flimsier dogbone and use a smaller biner.

It's not a gimmick to the sub 5' crowd.

Mammut Element. (About the same weight as Petzl spirits)

I personally like the keylock biners on both ends. That way if someone is TRing or following on the clipped ended of the rope (to calm a swing), it makes it easier to unclip the rope as you go.

haha no kidding...I dont always use a stick clip, but when I do, its with a tree limb and that goofy carabiner from mad rock (insert picture of dos equis guy here)

So if you are shorter, you are required by you "the god of all that is and ever was" to do all the cruxes before clipping?

My sub 5' little lady climbs better than you two bro's. Why should she have to hang it out on every climb because people with drill tend to be tall and thoughtless.

I thought this is the sport climbing forum...in which case, being on 5.9 is boring. Hell, it's not even sport climbing.

I use Petzl Spirits on the bolt end, a Petzl dogbone, and a Helium on the rope end.

Also it's safe to say that most anyone that is publicly denigrating the use of a stick clip probably doesn't climb hard sport.

I really like the BD Positrons for sport climbing: keylock, nice clipping action and durable.

For trad/alpine climbing, I really like the BD Oz draws: featherlight, and hooded noses.

Funny how the most beginner of climbers think they have an opinion on this.

Aaron, here is the hard truth.

Sport doesn't technically even really start until 12c. There can be some stylistic concessions made for routes as easy as 12a. Neither of which you can climb. So what point are you making?

Another truth, sport climbing isn't even really sport climbing until the draws are fixed. Making fun of the chicken clip (it's called a "Woman's Helper" and it was invented on bigwalls) is missing the whole point by a mile.

Two of the guys making fun of your superman trad nonsense have sent 13 trad. Another sends 12 trad.

It's unfortunate that you are so weak. I'd probably quit if I were as weak as you. In fact, if I quit, gained 75 pounds, and came back 10 years later I'd still climb harder than you. The solution certainly isn't to avoid quickdraws or topropes. The solution would be to do something about that incredibly weak mind of yours. Have you considered prions?

That wasn't a paragraph.

I know what you climb because I've met your type hundreds of times. In fact I used to be you. Trust me, you are sufficiently weak.
