Painting or Coloring a Haul bag

Hey folks,
A friend just gave me a rad little metolius zodiak haul pack, that seems like it will be a great bolting bag that I can haul while bolting by myself. Only bummer is that it is "beacon in the sky" orange.
Anyone ever changed the color of a haul bag? Black is fine, tan even better, just something not so obvious and bright.

I wouldn't paint as even if it is touted as "flexible" paint. Once scratched up it will begin to chip/flake off . Instead use vinyl Decal material from a local sign maker. It will actually add life to your bag & it comes in every color imaginable.

Never happened to my truck seats and they took hell for many years and ZERO "Chip/flaking". (At least not with the stuff I used

There's some sort of rain-repellant (polyester?) tarpaulin material on the outside, so I'm not sure if it's going to take the dye, but I think you're all right and the canvas on the sides is a better idea.

If the canvas dyeing works, I think Krylon can do the trick for the rest of it.

I'm in the middle of painting a denim jacket, literally, and I haven't even thought about trying this on a bag. A terrific idea! In fact, I did a lot of college painting, so it sounds like a fun way to flex my old brushes. I just need a bag now to work with.

Krylon has a paint designed for plastics.  It works well on dry bags.  I've also used Rustoleum version, which took several weeks to dry!

I wouldn’t go with black unless you are trying to boil your spare water and cook your food.    Light tan might be good

Edit: DOH!  Just saw Fitboy resurrected a 7 year old thread.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
