I certainly hope not. Anyone know anything about this situation?

Anyone know how to embed a GIF like this?

Well, he hasn't got any screws in, so he has a chance.

WTF!! Makes you never want to ice climb again after seeing that! I was on toprope once and had a smaller 25 ft piller break and slide down my chest and to the ground....got before and after pics, but no video back then in mid 80's era. Scary as shit for sure. Wonder where the rest of that video is posted up?

I've seen that gif before from another link. Supposedly the climber was fine. But then again, shit like that seem to kill the belayer more often than the climber. Still remember the fang collapsing one day on its own; that was really loud. Basically made me not want to ice climb.

AND it looked massive, really thick and well atttached....I didn't see any former horizontal crack or weakness, it just frickin' totally went! That's dam scary, a mid ice failure when on lead or solo....looks like certain death to me, that's for sure.,,Even if you got lucky and landed in 3 ft of soft deep snow below,,,there is a shitload, tons of ice coming down on top of your body! Worse than some single boulder rock fall in rock climbing. Would love to know more about this incident.

I don't know the source video, but do remember seeing this at the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Here is the trailer for it. The video you mention is at about 1:50.

He survived largely unscathed...

He didn't died... But definitely soiled his bibs! Crazy video. I remember seeing the Pic-o-The-Vic coming down late one season after the park was closed. Sounded like a freakin' freight train rolling down the cliff. Cool, as shit, but scary as shit at the same time...

People insisting he didn't die - ok, sure he didn't
does anyone have actual contextual information on this clip?

It's out there, there was a full write up a few years ago on one of the sites. Just not in the mood to search it out.
