Flying in and renting a car for a week. Do I need high clearance or 4x4, or will a standard car suffice for most areas? Thanks for any beta you can provide.

I am FAR from an expert on Sedona, but in my experience an average clearance auto works fine. I took my wife's CRV down the dirt road to the parking for Mars Attacks, and a lot of the other stuff is accessed by parking right off a paved road.

Again, this is just based on my limited experience. Others who are more "local" might have more to add.

You do not need 4X4 unless you are going to head up Schnebly Hill Road to climb on the Flying Buttress. You could walk instead. This area has some great climbs in the sun.

4x4 isn't necessary although higher clearance will make your life easier for most of the climbing areas in Sedona. Highly recommend checking out Mars Attacks while you're there!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
