Scarpa Phantom Guide
|
I'm currently using Sportiva Trango's but due to my wide foot am considering upgrading to the Scarpa Phantom Guide. Is it true that Scarpa shoes accommodate wide feet and what would you fine fellows recommend size wise for a size 9 foot. (I'm thinking 42.5 or 43) |
|
Depends, I am a size 9, wear thick socks, use a Superfeat, and like lots of wiggle room so I am a 44.5. I could probably go down a size but like the room. My suggestion is to try them on and wear them around the house before going outside. Most places will exchange if house worn. |

I have wide feet. Scarpa boots tend to fit me very well. |

Awesome, thanks for the replies guys. Between the two of you it gives me a pretty good idea of sizing and I'm glad to hear from someone who wears them that they fit wide feet well. |

10.5US 44 P-Guides. |

I also have wide feet and Scarpa boots tend to feel the best. Size 9 street/climbing shoes and size 42 Guides feel perfect. |
|
I wear a size 9US. I have a D-E width foot and a 43 in the Phantom Guide fit perfectly. |

I've owned a pair for 3 years and love them. I've noticed they are a little wide for me, so they might be just the ticket for you. Remember to get some insoles like superfeet. If you don't you'll have blisters for sure. |

I found the Scarpa Phantom Guides to be very wide when I tried them on. Much wider than La Sportiva. |

If you liked your Trangos youll really like the Scarpa Rebels. I wear a half size bigger on the Rebels than the Scarpa Jorasses. The Rebels aren't very warm but they're freakin sweet! |

Scarpa Rebels are the narrowest boots I've ever tried on (Pro GTX and Ultra models). I have narrow feet and they fit me like a glove. |

I just recently bought a pair of rebel ultras and they are incredible. It is like a running shoe that you can climb ice in! As for the fit, the heel and instep are narrow while the ball off the foot is wide. Coincidentally this is the exact shape of my foot. When compared to yellow kofach boots, they are like sandals as far as warmth goes. That said, I spent a lot of time just standing around in the snow today stuck behind some very slow parties and while I noticed my feet weren't toasty, they weren't uncomfortably cold (the rest of my body was). When I was actually moving they were great though. I know this isn't about the phantoms, but I am ridiculously pleased with scarpa's boots. The rebel ultra is the perfect single boot for fast or technical ascents! I'm sure the phantoms are great too. |
