Basically is this area friendly for soloing? By looking at the grades of the ice I'd say yes but I guess I'm curious about how it is to rap off of or can you walk off? Also what does the ice look like up there right now?
I believe you are asking about the ice in Castlewood Canyon State Park. CWC as the locals call it. I am curious as to the conditions there also. The pillars in particular look like good solos if they're in and chubby. Takes the right amount of sun/snow/freeze to make the pillars form though from what I've read.

Haha no not talking about Castlewood. That place is full of shit and some more shit. I'm talking about an ice area just north of Castle rock in Boulder canyon
I haven't driven up there in quite a while, but if the ice is in, it is reasonable to solo. I seem to remember walking off many years ago. Several of the flows in Clear Creek make good solos too. Likewise Castlewood Canyon. We rapped into CW with the kids and climbed out last year.

Tom, I was there on Saturday and none of the usual routes were in. I did not look at the falls so I can't speak to that.

Thanks very much for the update! I've been wanting to tick these pillars for many a year, but have yet to get on these for numerous reasons. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for good conditions this season. Please post up on the CO Ice conditions thread if things change.

I say any ice is better than none and would never put down someone's local venue.

You're absolutely right I apologize. I've only been climbing there once and it was not a pleasant experience to say the least haha.
