This is the first cooking video that my wife Sylvia is planning to do as she works on her cooking guide for rock climbers...Vertical Kitchen

She'd love to get some recipe ideas.

I like the title,,,Vertical Kitchen. Next vid should be all from a portaledge or belay ledge where a one pot meal is done on a JetBoil. Or just roam through Miguels camping area at the Red, about 8PM any summer or fall evening to video some fantastic 2 burner Coleman stoves in action, doing massive vege recipe meals by climbers and for climbers.

Agree,,it should be about the simple tools available, yet the intricate recipes and meals that can be done in the backcountry. Don't forget to include the thought that this is done on a poor climbers budget too! I often just use military MRE's or on-sale freeze dried instant meals in a package. Fancy is opening a can of corn or canned tomatos to add to the mix. Maybe a backpackers recipe book is more in order, where you can haul a bit more exotic cooking gear between a party of 4.

Thanks for the feedback. We planned on doing this at a campsite on a 2-burner Coleman, but the snow put the cabash on the plan.

We're not going to focus on backpacker cooking, as there are already lots of books on that topic. Instead, cooking that can be done with a 1-2 burner stove with simple tools....focusing on healthy and quick. We'll be more focused on people who camp at climbing areas, and not so much on big wall cooking.

We're excited to get the project going and having fun with it all the way. Vertical Kitchen is sort of aligned to my book Vertical Mind (www.verticalmindbook.com)

You really want to limit your audience to just rock climbers?

I think that the book is a great idea. When do you think it will be out?

Great idea. Make is so a total bonehead (me) can go to the grocery store in the Valley, buy everything he needs, come back to camp and cook it on a double burner camp stove.

Using a 2-burner Coleman sounds more directed at camp cooking. 90% of the climbers I know take a single backpacking style stove such as a white gas or canister.

Did you publish this book? If so where can I find it or something similar?  Thanks!

Cooking rock climbers is okay, but the leftovers spoil too quickly. Could you come out with one on cooking ice climbers so I don’t have to feel bad about food waste?

“It’s a cookbook!”

Alternatively:  “rock climbers are PEOPLE!”

"Limit" and "specialize" are synonymous

Check out my wife's cookbook. She and her partners (Dirty Gourmet) are leaders in the outdoor food industry. And it is the same publisher as Freedom of the Hills! How cool is that?

Hang in a cold place for several days to allow parasites to escape, than I'd recommend a long acidic marinade to toughen all of the lean muscle and balance out the in-ground chalk flavoring.   Im not sure what the residual TCH content might be, but you may want to be careful with if your subject drug tests.
