Anyone know if they are coming out with a new or updated model of the Nilas Jacket in fall 2014?

I bought last years model and the hood is beyond terrible. With a climbing helmet, I couldn't zip the front up. They say "helmet compatible," but I beg to differ. I used it on one alpine rout and sent it back immediately when I got home. Wasn't as warm as I though either. Haven't read anything from the recent Outdoor Retailer on Mountain Hardwear either.

Here's the description from their Fall 2014 Product Guide:

Technologies: Dry.Q Core, Q.Shield DOWN
Average Weight: 1 lb. 10 oz.; 729 g.

So it looks like they may or may not be switching the shell from Airshield to Dry.Q Core to make it waterproof. Also looks like the weight is increasing a bit, from the current 1 lb. 6 oz to 1 lb. 10 oz

Thank you for the post and information.

I went ahead and got a Black Diamond Stance Belay Parka to try out for the remainder of this ice season.

from Mountain Hardwear

"In terms of the Nilas, the jacket will be updated for the Spring 2014 season. Currently, the Nilas uses AirShield Elite 15D Ripstop fabric, and in the 2014 model, it will be using Airshield 15D 2L fabric instead. In addition, the color Sherwood will no longer be available in the upcoming seasons."
