Looking to start practicing aid climbing with the goal of climbing a wall in Zion in the Spring. I haven't done any aid climbing yet (other than occasional french free) but have experience trad climbing. I have also read Jared Ogden's Big Wall Climbing to get familiar with the aid climbing process.
Ideally i'd like to head to Castle Rock and practice aiding Country Club Crack on a day not suitable for free climbing. I would also be open to other areas if you have something else in mind. I have all my own gear and am just looking for a safe partner to get in some practice with. Anyone with experience aid climbing who would be up for climbing for a day and giving me pointers would be greatly appreciated.
I am free most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Send me a message if you are interested in getting out.
+1 for solo aiding, you can do it really easily with just a clove hitch (and backups, of course), and you won't lose a bored partner in the process ;-) You can tie your rope around the block at the base of Country Club Crack, so you won't even need to set up much of an anchor.
