I know its not the most exciting topic but I broke my 15 year old chalk bag draw string. I replaced it thinking all chalk bags are created equally, but now I know that some chalk bags are crap. Every time I go to use it I just feel like I'm trying to itch my butt. I have medium sized hands and before I go and buy another chalk bag I wanted to know who out there absolutely loves and recommends the chalk bag they are using so I don't go waste another 20 bucks. I would spend twice that on a good chalk bag that would last me another 15 years.

John Marsella wrote:it's not all that hard to replace the string on most bags. Just takes some ingenuity and a little patience. a doubled-over bit of stiff wire with a curve bent into it can be inserted through the previous string-hole, around thru the inside of teh bag, and out the other string hole. Then drag a bit of drawstring back through. It can be run through twice with a bit more work. Yup, or even cut a couple small holes to open up the path for moving that new string around if the wire won't get it there. Worth it for saving a classic productive bag.

The Misty Mountain Adrenal bag was the best chalk bag ever created. It's discontinued, sadly. I too am looking for a quality replacement. I've got the fancy Arcteryx job but I'm on the verge of getting rid of it... really not a fan at all.

I got my lady a krieg bag. They're out of Idaho I think... Huge bag, stiff opening, zip pocket, and he uses left over fabrics from left overs, so everything is one of a kind. Comes with a nice nylon belt with whistle buckle. All for 22 bucks! I have an old misty mountain corduroy bag that I love, but it has no pocket :( it's not too big or small, sits well on my tush, and is a great shape. I don't like verve or black diamond bag. Verves have a cool shape but are small and don't cinch up real well. Bd bags deform a whole bunch over time and I've seen more than a few all ripped and what not. Check out krieg, support the little guys!

I got rid of my old chalk bag a few months back so running a new draw string is not an option. Anyway it leaked chalk like faucet. I checked out Krieg bags site and I like the look and style, it might be the one for me. Thanks for the suggestions.

My wife and I both love our Krieg bags. Mine has sharks on it, hers has penguins. They're really nice.

I just replaced my chalk bag because I hated my other one; it leaked so much. I got a prana geo and like it a lot.
