Best budget static rope
|
I am looking to pick up a static rope for hauling and top roping on. Looking at the 10.1 ish range and looking for a full 60m length. What is the best rope to get that will be the least expensive, but not be a total cheapo? |

why use a static rope for TR? |
|
I have heard a couple people say its easier on the rope. As long as there is no slack in the system a fall should not be bad. Maybe im way off base here. What are people thoughts/opinions with using a static rope for TR soloing? |

I use a static for TR soloing and have occasionally used one for regular TRing without a problem . I prefer it because it is a sturdier rope overall and if you fall you don't bounce or stretch the rope a long way. The teeth of a microtraxion will wear the sheath. As it happens I also use a so-called semistatic rope that can take factor 1 fall but I only use this because it happened to be the cheapest. I think mine is 10.5 Edelweiss caving rope. I got 150' from Amazon for maybe a $100. This is the rope: |

Which ever one is on sale. Answer to the previous question I own a 70m haul line primarily because I have a 70m lead line. Likewise, if you ever have to rap the route/bail off something really tall having 2 70's helps to speed up the process. |

That was part of my thought process as well. Having the same length haul line would be nice for bailing (I know... just don't bail right?). I am planning on doing a few solo trips so I will only have my lead line and haul line. |
