I'll be in NZ (all over), for all of March and possibly April 2014. Looking for climbing partners ideally for mountaineering or alpine routes (Aspiring and Cook would be fantastic, but I'll jump on anything within my skill level). Even relatively easy walk-ups are fine, since I haven't had the opportunity to climb in the Southern Alps until now.

Trad or sport climbing is also welcome, as I'll be bringing my full kit with me to prepare for any eventuality. Feel free to PM me!

Quick update: really keen on doing Mt Aspiring from about 24 Feb until 10 March or so. Open to other alpine adventures or general cragging around that time as well. I'll be based in Christchurch at the start, but able to head anywhere.

Travis, I sent you a PM, but I haven't used the PM system before so I don't know if you got it. I live in Christchurch and have a pretty flexible schedule, and if I don't do Mt. Aspiring in 2 weeks I'd be psyched to do it with you.
A lot of routes might be out of shape by the time you are around, but the alpine rock routes should be still good to go. Also, the southern alps are amazing and you will want to climb everything. Check out these websites if you are looking for trip inspiration:

Buy all the gear you need in the US cause its ridiculously expensive here.

I forgot to add:

topomap.co.nz/

i just discovered this site a week ago and wished I had found it way earlier. You could print out a bunch of maps for Arthur's pass, Aspiring, and Cook regions.

Andrew,
Definitely got your PM, so it does work! However, for some reason I can't reply since I keep getting an undeliverable bounceback from your stored e-mail address. If you want to send me a PM with another e-mail (non .edu), we can totally start figuring out some plans! Just let me know, there are plenty of ways to get in touch.
