Looking for an ice climbing partner

Hi all,

I am writing this in my Ouray motel room after finishing up a 6 day climbing trip here. We had an amazing time and I finally got some good leading experience. I am very eager to continue ice climbing through the season so I want to reach out and see if there is anyone who wants to meet up. My wife climbs a bit but only handles it in small doses. So due to the fact that we've been climbing all day every day here in Colorado I feel I had better be making some new climbing buddies quickly.

I have been to Lee Vining once and have made four trips to Ouray for ice climbing. I'm fairly confident leading WI3 and have TR'd many WI4 and WI5 routes in the Ouray Ice Park. I work only 4 days a week and am looking to spend a good deal of time on ice this winter. I was just Googling Tahoe ice climbing and I would certainly like to get familiar with Eagle Creek Canyon and Cascade Falls. I'm always down for a trip to Lee Vining also. It's good to hear the Chouinard Wall is in pretty good right now.

Motel, camping, carpooling are all fine with me. I have plenty of screws, Screamers, two 70m single ropes, 2 sets of crampons, two sets of Nomics, 2 climbing packs, and I drive a 4x4 Z71 Tahoe. Most of my free days will probably be on weekdays. Let me know when and where you want to climb. j.tobias.smith@gmail.com

hey guys,

Saw this thread and got really excited. I've never been ice climbing but would really love to give it a try. I have been climbing (on rocks not ice) for about a year, I know totally different. So if anyone is willing to take me under their wing I would love to follow up some ice climbs! I'm located in Berkeley and can have 3-4 day weekends free. Let me know!

Plans fell through for this weekend. Might head up to Tahoe tomorrow to play in the mountains. Anyone want to climb some ice? Open to other plans (pretty much whatever) if anyone needs a last second partner.

Like many posting on this thread, I too am interested in Ice. Got a bit of Alpine ice exp. but no waterfall. Will check back later and make contacts. Currently in bay area

Anybody want to get out around Tahoe tomorrow?

I just posted a couple photos of June Lake Roadside Ice in the NorCal Ice Climbing Google Groups: groups.google.com/forum/#!f…

Summary: Lots of rain and warmer temps in the area has caused poor ice. Still climbable, but not great.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
