Tyrolean? Must have missed it. River was frozen enough to walk on...kind of

For those that like to take advantage of trenches, get on hidden falls now. We broke trail a couple days ago.....let me correct that.....we swam up the gully to the base.

Hidden Falls at Wild Basin is in. There is a WI3 flow to the left of the Main Flow (called Kiddie Flow) that was pretty wet but fat. The Main Flow is in about WI4 on the left side and would make the best lead to the bolted anchor. I led the right side of Main Flow and it was pretty slushy and had water running behind it.

Thank Tom and Andy! We actually ended up at Moffatt Tunnel this morning; the flow on the far side is fat but drippy today with the warmth, the pillar to the left of the main flow is in but pretty hacked out (no swinging necessary). It looked like the flow closest to the parking lot was in, but not as fat as I've seen it before. We didn't get a close look though.

Plenty of ice in the Black Canyon and near Lake City.

Curecanti Monster.

The Real Blue Creek.

Open and Closed Casket.

Gandalfs beard no longer seems to be forming due to possible diversion of the ponds that normally feed this climb.

Scott, thanks for posting! What's the "approved" access for climbs like the Real Blue Creek? The approach in Roberts is across private land and parking seems problematic too based on prior reccys that I've done. I don't want to be "that guy" and create or worsen access issues with or for locals.

Kevin when we climbed it we parked at the pullout on highway 50 right before you get to Blue Creek. We dropped down to the creek and followed it to the base of the climb. The creek was frozen and it was surprisingly easy travel.

Pretty good but the popular stuff (Avocado, Pillar, Drool) is pretty hacked up and stuff that gets sun is getting hammered right now.

On a sidenote, Rifle is good as well as Hidden Falls in Glenwood Canyon.

Hidden Falls in RMNP is in pretty good shape overall.
I was there on Friday, and it was running water / rebuilding itself.

If you want to see it, I did a blog post video.
(Check the looks, or enjoy the video…)

Nice vid... Hidden Falls looks about as cruiser and fat as it gets! Unusual to have the cave fully covered. At least for the last few years! Nice.

Did the Lincoln thing Wed. It's pretty much it's usual brittle and platie self. Lots of ice though, little snow coverage, and the pillars are all looking pretty good. Go early, beat the cluster-F of crowds...

What's up with Long's/Meeker cirque lately? Anything still good in the area? Specifically looking at Alexander's
