Hey all,
I'm going to be in Israel at the beginning of March and am looking to do some climbing. Any recommendations on areas, guides, or groups to climb with? If anyone wants to partner, I can lead trad up to 5.7 and follow higher, plus do sport/TR.

Thanks,
Mark

look up the israeli alpine club. there is good sport climbing in Ein Fara (a small wadi outside Jerusalem) as well as Gita and Dalton in the North.

+1 on looking up the Israel Alpine Club.

I will PM you a guide recommendation - just need to see if he's still in Israel or climbing abroad somewhere.

Last time I climbed at Ein Fara there wasn't much under 5.10 as I recall, but that was 5+ years ago and I haven't kept track of the development efforts.

Gita would be your best bet. Not a whole lot of trad in the country - much more sport climbing. The bolting is thoughtful and done well. If you want to climb trad in the region, cross the border into Jordan and go to Wadi Rum and climb sandstone big walls - think Indian Creek, but 1000' or taller, instead of 200'.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
