never seen a "climbing" bolt with a allen head. looks like some sort of ghetto rivet..I would pull them and be stoked to have a pilot hole....or use em, take a whipper and (hopefully) report back....Are they epoxied in???? hard to tell much from the pics

Some self-drives and drop-in style bolts use similar allen head type of cap screws. Who knows though.

Just hand drill some new bolts if you want to toprope there.

whoa man, unless you live in lovelock no reason to even both with those choss piles.

most likely if you live in reno or carson you'd be better suited to spend more time at snowshed at donner and hone them skillz in. if you live in slc (seems like the next most logical city given those coordz)...you buryin bodies out there?

I would say a drop in style as well, the shield may be 2"-3" long, but the allen screw only 1" !!
