Hey guys, I am headed to Northern Georgia next week and I am wondering if there is anything worth climbing near Blue Ridge. Probably too cold? I would be looking to climb moderate (5.9 to 5.11) sport routes. If its too cold outdoors, is there a gym near there? Thanks!

Try the White Wall at Mt Yonah. It's good this time of year. You can then double back and try some of the climbs on the Lowers.

You are about 1 1/2 hours to Chattanooga (T Wall), Clayton (Tallullah Gorge) and La Fayette (Rock Town). I would consider those options and skip the coopers place... These are also great winter destinations.

it's never too cold to climb in the southeast, however, rain can be a problem especially this year. watch the weather. there is no sport area where you are going only climbing areas that contain a few sport routes. if you are not a trad climber you may want to stick to rocktown or sandrock AL to get the most bang for your buck. otherwise, you may spend a lot of time looking and very little climbing. sandrock actually has quite a few sport routes by southeastern standards and you can always fill in between climbs with some great bouldering.

From Blue Ridge you are 2 hours from Sand Rock and the hike is like 5 minute from the car. It drys pretty quick and is normally sunny. Mt Yonah is right at an hour from Blue Ridge with about a 45 minute hike to the lowers and white wall. The main face which has some pretty moderate to easy sport routes was wet today (December 27) and had some ice on the left side. The lowers where completely dry climbing.

I think I'm gonna stick to bouldering. I won't have to rely on non climbing relatives to belay me haha. Sounds like rocktown is perfect

You're pretty close to the Coopers Gap boulders. Admittedly though you'll have a better time at Rock Town.

Sounds like coopers is highball. I doubt I'll bring my crash pad. I only packed shoes and chalk. So I'm thinking I'll work a problem or two at rock town while from relatives hike or watch :)
