I'm really interested in Lynn Hill's free ascent of the nose, but I haven't been able to find a video of it. does anyone know if it is somewhere online or on some sort of dvd?

You're looking for "Big Stone". I wasn't able to find a copy for you on google but I didn't put too much effort into it. I have a VHS copy, I'm sure you can find a copy in your area.

I looked for Big Stone on DVD off and on for a long time, never found it. I saw it once a long time ago on VHS and the footage of Jason Campbell on Moonlight was pretty cool, especially the part with his voiceover about gunning it for a jug that wasn't a jug at all and the ensuing panic.

I think there was also a different stand-alone film of Lynn on the Nose called "Free Climbing the Nose"...check youtube, I'd bet it's up there.

EDIT: Try this, Lynn Hill freeclimbing the nose:

video.google.com/videoplay?…

that part on moonlight is my favorite for sure too. also watching him layback the thin crack and where he puts his feet.

Hey all. I produced Big Stone years ago (13 years ago, holy sh*t). It kind of ran its course on VHS, and when I looked into mastering for DVD, it was $5k. So I passed on that. Anyone know of a way to distribute online now? I've still got the digital files. Wouldn't be hard to get it out there.

You might be able to setup something like the guy who filmed Dave MacLeod did over at vodo.net/RhapE11

I think it would be awesome to see it digital from your masters.

Drew you might check with Mortimer or Lowell and see how they do it, I think both Sender and Big Up offer their stuff for download in addition to hard copy. Might even be able to cut some deal with them to run the distribution through their site/infrastructure, get some additional adverstising/exposure that way.

Bump?

Hey Drew, you ever pursue this? I'd love to see this thing again and add it to my library.

Hey Drew, did you find a chance to offer the digital files of "big stone"? I really would love to watch that movie again on a modern flat screen. My old vhs is impossible to watch on a big flat screen - the quality is just too bad.

If 5k is all that's holding you up do a Kickstarter campaign. You'd easily find enough folks willing to buy that video to pre-fund it and more

Phonovision or nothing! VHS is way too mainstream for us climbing hipsters.
