BD Fusion Ice Picks

For anyone who has a pair of the green Fusions and wished they climbed ice better, there is hope!

BD recently came out with the Fusion Ice Pick, which has a 2 degree angle difference than the rest of the BD pick line. This makes the pick angle on the fusion way friendlier for wrist flick type swings instead of the chopping action that had to be used before. I used to love the Nomic on ice but always kept the Fusions for mixed, but I've got to say the Fusions with the new ice pick really give the Nomic a run for its money- they swing like the cobra but with a way more neutral wrist angle which is awesome on vertical ice. The Fusion used with either the fusion or fusion ice picks is by far the deadliest combo out there right now IMHO.

If only the picks solved all the other problems with the fusions.

If only the tools will solve all ice climbing problems.

Small, nonadjustable grip. Heavy. Those are my dislikes with the tool.

Poor balance, weight, poorly shaped grip, etc.

How is the grip non-adjustable? I think the adjustability is far superior to the Nomic.

Sorry, I was referring to the bottom rest. They do adjust alright for length. I find the handle kind of weird shaped after they're at full size. I almost think manufacturers should just offer different tool sizes from the factory.

Looks like the Fusion ice pick is just the tip of the iceberg. Some fellow was out testing some new BD Fuel tools today. What I gathered is that they were basically a more ice-oriented Fusion. No hammer, a softer rubber for the grip and those ice picks standard. Slight change in the angle of the shaft too.

This is the first I've heard of the Fuel. Looks like some interesting new products are coming to market.

Interesting, you should have gotten some pictures! Its interesting a replacement for the Reactors hasn't surfaced yet too considering how eager they are to clear stock at $123 a pop!

No.

Swing is better/more natural but they still suck for ice. Swapping back to original fusion picks for a dedicated mixed tool that is awesome.

Cobra with modified laser picks for ice. Fusions with original fusion picks for mixed. Good combo.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
