It's been years since I was at Baxter and on Katahdin but I'd like to go this winter. Does anyone know any info on this? Are there any winter rules I need to be sure about?

Check website... all regs are posted. Gate will be closed.

X2 on website. Rules and regulations spelled out and camp site availability on-line. Things have relaxed some but still some red tape.

Make reservations for overnight use at least a week in advance. To access the best climbing / skiing in the park (chimney pond / south and north basin) requires multiple night stay due to the 16-17 mile one way trek in winter.

Dress warm and prepare for some intense cold.

But so worth the effort. BSP and Katahdin are a special place.
