Learn how to stay safe in the backcountry and brush up on your avy skills by checking out an avalanche awareness clinic hosted by Friends of Berthoud Pass at Wilderness Exchange Unlimited in Denver’s LoDo district. We are hosting two clinics, on Dec. 17 and Jan. 21, so plan to stop by the shop to learn more about Colorado's dynamic environment.
Friends of Berthoud Pass has been hosting free avalanche classes for an entire decade. Classroom sessions include an overview of avalanche awareness, avoidance, forecasting and rescue. Topics such as route selection, hazard minimization, best practices, preparedness and terrain analysis are covered in a 2-hour presentation.
No registration is required. Classes begin at 8:00 p.m. They are open to the public and free of charge. Donations are gratefully accepted and benefit the nonprofit Friends of Berthoud Pass.
