Has anyone used these screws yet? Worth buying instead of black diamonds? They look sweet... Any screw that grabs quickly is a plus in my book! Aluminum hanger also would make the screw less tail heavy when you're going for that first turn and you take your hand off for a second and it wants to drop...

Any experience? Thinking about replacing my 13cm old school turbos...

Have you considered having your BD's professionally re-sharpened?

I saw some of these used the other day and they were going in way easier than anything.
(I thought I kept mine sharp!!!)

All of mine are going into the next batch run for sure! Way cheaper than new screws.

Haven't even handled them. But I hope the rivet that secures the fold-out handle is robust, because it looks like UNscrewing them with a lot of force (think screw frozen in place, or the hanger forced past a bulge) will put a lot of strain at that point.

Looks like a cross between the BDs and Grivels.

They're pretty low on teeth and the old hanger design. They've got some rust spots and are nearing leave behind status. I'm afraid....

Eli please read Dane's comments about fixed knobs and core shots before your purchase.

These style screws are better suited for placing near the base of columns where in the event of a fall contact with your cord is less likely.

Oops, I see that the handle is retractable.
Thanks BigM

Haha, I've always thought that Petzl athletes had a leg up on BD ones - they get to use their tools and helmets which are more visible and use BD ice screws that can be omitted from photos.

BTW, has anyone gotten a spin on the new Petzl ice screw sharpening gadget?

If you take a better look, you´ll also see a new laser speed screws on that shelf.
And while we are at it, I'm more interested in those boots on top shelf at 2:15 mark.

It's right here in mp's Gear Review forum. (Also in that same forum at NEice.com)
