Wrap your tool

I just noticed 3M Gripping Material on the 3M website, has anyone seen this material? |
|
I haven't used the gripping tape, but right now the 2228 works and I'm questioning why go other routes... tried the friction tape just for yucks, bad bad bad idea if your usual routes involve snow. |

As Erik posted earlier.. |

Erik W, I went out and got the 2228 Scotch Electrical tape, but now am wondering how you got those nice grip bevels in your wrap! |

One roll of 3M 2228 is good for about 2 and 1/2 axes if you stretch it nice and tight (which you should do anyway to get a good wrap that won't slide). Try wrapping 4" of pipe/dowel to start off so you get the hang of how the stuff tends to lay. Also, pro tip: start at the head of the axe and wrap downwards towards the handle. Aim for about 1/3 width overlap with each turn. Quark shaft wrap example |

You guys are BORED. |

I would think if it's cork based it shouldn't absorb water, I have a bit from wrapping my saltwater rods and it lasts for about 5+ years. Maybe get 3-5 seasons out of it if you want.... Any recommendation for removing old goo from the previous tape? Acetone or lacquer thinner? |

^^^ only size large huh Ben? |

Tried the bike wrap last year. Worked great, but only lasted a season. The material is too thick and tends to get sliced and diced. I also had some textured deck paint that I tried on another set of tools, same result. Both were great for the first six uses or so then they started coming apart. |

Handle (palm width only) wrapped on my Quarks with 2228, time to try them out next weekend. |
