I hope some find it useful.

Don,

what are you doing playing golf?

Good stuff. Tool assisted soft tissue work then pronation/supination exercises then eccentric flexion exercises.

This is how I have successfully treated myself many times. Although last time my elbows flared up I found trigger points (muscle knots) in my extensor muscles (opposite side of the forearm). I had 2 quick dry needling treatments that produced tons of muscle twitches and the elbow pain was gone and hasn't returned since. This experience has caused me to rethink how and why elbow tendonitis forms and how to treat it. Interesting stuff.

Jon, I had a brachioradialis strain that was cured with dry needing. Amazing stuff.

This is timely since I'm going to see a physician for medial epicondylitis in a few days...it's gotten really bad in my right elbow and I have it in my left elbow too just not as bad. I stopped climbing a while ago to let the injury heal, and I'm wondering, how long did you rest before starting the recovery exercises and starting to climb again? I think I'm going to procure a couple of those flex bars.

This is good info...however, if you want to cure your elbow tendonitis faster just buy an armaid. www.armaid.com Watch the DVD, follow the instructions, go climbing sooner.

The ideas behind the flexbars, eccentric contraction, seems to be the ticket, and at this point the idea is not new. See also

Similar to the physical therapy I had for my golfer's elbow. EXCEPT for the twisting flexbar part - I tried this on my own before PT and I ended up straining a tendon in my wrist. My PT simply had me do reverse wrist curls, while lifting up the weight - the only part I did initially was the lowering.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
