I was in a situation where the C4 .75 was undercammed, to my liking, and I just couldn't stick the #1 in. Would you recommend using another cam from a different brand (if so, which one), or would you just trust the .75? Thanks!

I use c4s and mastercams and have never had a problem. They seem to overlap and fill in the spaces, I think. Ive never climbed at indian creek where the cracks are perfectly parallel. On granite, if a piece is slightly over cammed I can usually slide it up or down and find a good fit. I have also heard that the friends are offset from the c4s and can fill in that space.

Both have already been stated but just for emphasis: #2 WC friend and/or black metolius.

The red DMM Dragon is sort of like a small #1 and a fat .75. They are light and have an extendable sling.

Not to mention they are really good cams and I think I am actually starting to like the mastercams in the smaller sizes (under .75) over my C4's.

+2 black master cam. Those situations where neither green and red are really working are usually kind of awkward placements and the master cams are great for fiddling into those. As far as I'm concerned there's no width of perfect splitter that the C4's don't protect well in that range

If you are referring to granite splitters, though, I would tend to agree with you. Usually event he most laser-cut granite splitters have enough size variation to allow some placement flexibility. As others have said, #2 Friend or black Metolius are the best options. I'm also pretty fond of the red Link Cam in the desert, since it pretty much covers the whole range of the green and red C4, plus a bit of the purple too. It is nice to use when transitioning from one size to another as the crack widens or narrows...fills in the in-between size. Plus, in the Creek you rarely have to deal with weird placement angles or placements in pods, both of which are the downfall of the Link Cam, so they work pretty well there.

Now that I have the green Totem cam, the Metolius never comes out of the bag. The Totem cam is the same size, and much better in every way I care about than the Metolius. GO
