Martha's conditions?
Anybody been up there recently? Thanks! |
I was up there on Sunday 11/24 and there was a bit of WI3- at the 5th pitch. The previous 4 pitches were standard mixed climbing. A lot of unconsolidatd snow made for strenuous climbing. |
Avy conditions were questionable in the area. Climber triggered and partially buried. May have stabilized some recently. |
We climbed Martha yesterday, 11/29. Only the final step contained some ice. The others were dry mixed climbing. The snow fields in between were a mix of sugary and crusty snow. |

Sounds shitty. Is dreamweaver any better? |
Thanks for the steps guys : ) they made the snow a lot easier. I found the last dry step to be trickier than the WI "crux," but maybe that's just me. Anyway, thanks all for the info! The snow on the upper part of the route didn't seem deep enough to slide, lots of rocks poking out (just my opinion and may change soon). I wasn't particularly worried about the snow at the base either. Just that one slope on the way to Chasm Lake made me a little nervous. Descended by boulder hopping down the west side of the north ridge (east side had weird snow made walking hard). Sorry didn't get a good look at Dreamweaver. |
