Need a little advice on this one. Picking up the Mentor, can't try it on because no one carries it so online is the way to go.

I recently purchased the Halogen Hoody which is advertised as a "Trim Fit". The thing was massive on me, felt more like a over-insulating layer than one to wear as part of the old action-suit.

I'm 5'9", 39" chest, 145 lbs (and jacked as hell...). Anyone of similar build have any experience with this jacket and OR's sizing? Was the Halogen just intended to be thrown on over a few more layers or is this shell going to be a big old garbage back in terms of fit. Just gotta get it right.

Thanks.

And...I normally wear a medium in Mountain Hardwear's new jackets (Trinity, Quasar, Nilas), Rab Latok medium fits great, pretty much medium in everything but now I'm all thrown off by the Halogen...

I find OR's fit kind of hit and miss. Based on your height and weight you're probably a medium but it will be a big medium, especially in the torso.

I'm 5'9, 155, 42ish chest and the medium mentor fits me well with room for layering. It's not the trimmest shell through the body, so I would suspect it would be a little baggy on you through the mid section It's definitely not OR's trimmest pattern though. My axiom is trimmer than the mentor, as were the medium alibi and lodestars that I tried on. My medium radiant stuff and ferrosi wind shirt are mediums and are spot on. Depending on what you wanted to layer underneath it I think it would work. I would really find an online retailer that has a good return policy and order the small and medium so you can know for sure.

I've always thought OR sizing is cut a little bigger than other brands. I have a XL pair softshell pants that would be XXL in other brands. The problem with that thinking is companies are slimming down sizes. I've tried on XL BD, Arcteryx, MH, Mammut and OR jackets in the last month and a XXL doesn't fit in the chest. On the flip side the bottom was baggy. Therefore I think it's hard to tell you what will fit. With everyone resizing I would just like to say be careful what you order. Either way, I hope you find what you're looking for!

I'm a little bigger than BTW.. Haha.. I'm 6'3" 260 with 52 inch chest and a 38 inch waist.Im not Jacked.. more like fat but I can almost Miltary press two of you.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
