DIY reslinging tricams

I've heard of the difficulty/impossibility of reslinging tricams at home, but I was thinking: couldn't you just double loop some high-tensile cord where the sling used to be? With two loops through where the sling was, I don't think there would be any loss of stability. Or find some nylon that's the right size and just tie it off with a double fisherman's? Perhaps a little sewing job would be necessary to keep the sling cinched tight to the tricam with no loss of strength. Ideas?

Dunno you'll die, but you'll spend more on the high tech cord than getting them redone properly in nylon.

I wasn't sure you were going to die when I read "high-tensile cord," but then I read "a little sewing job" and oh yeah, yep, yer gunna die.

edit: really though, nothing home made is going to work the same as the manufacturer-sewn tri-cam sling. If you can't DIY something better than new or just as good, pragmatically, what you have isn't a fix.

1/2" webbing is fine.

It is actually very easy, finish with a water knott.

Or send them to Wired Bliss, and a new sewn one will cost around $5

Thanks for the info, Locker do you offer discounts on resoling multiple pairs of shoes? I promise the rand hasn't broken through any of them...

Camp USA had included instructions for reslinging with new units. Water knot w/tails and then wrap with nylon reinforced tape around the knot.

If I find one of the papers I will scan it in this weekend.

Leave the sewing to professionals. My work sews a lot of life safety equipment and believe me, can't do that at home without the proper equipment!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
