Road Trip Around Las Vegas?

My brother-in-law and I are from Tennessee and are trying to plan an 8 day trip around Las Vegas in February. We'll be taking our wives who are non-climbers and will need to be entertained with resorts, restaurants,spa's etc while we're climbing and they'll join us for some sight seeing on rest days. I've never been out west and the ladies want to do more than just Las Vegas so we're thinking about a couple days at Red Rocks and up to two other areas. So far we're considering Sedona and Joshua Tree. We prefer trad and sport climbing. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Sounds like you already got a full trip - either of those locations can easily eat up a week.

Also consider St. George, Utah. Pretty country, lots of sport climbing.

Grand Canyon for hiking/backpacking. Not really out of your way if you're doing the Sedona thing.

Red Rocks may entertain them for a day, probably no more. Mt Charleston is a nearby distraction but may be chilly as its up high (it has a ski area). Some of the better parks are Zion (good climbing in and around St George), Snow Canyon, Valley of Fire, and lets not forget the Grand Canyon. Black Canyon (Colorado River) is nice for canoeing/boating as well. If you are into mountain biking you can rent/ride close to Red Rocks at Blue Diamond (McGhie's) or in St. George. St. George actually has four different types of rock to climb on. There is also a pretty impressive series of zip lines, albeit a bit pricy at Bootleg Canyon outside of Vegas. You would be surprised at how many outdoor activities are available within one hour of Vegas. While you are at it take the neon(sign)museum tour.
