Catskill Ice climbers

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for ice partners for when winter comes. Have some ice experience, climb trad frequently at the Gunks/ADK.

Anyone out there looking for a partner in the Catskill area? Free on weekdays after class and weekends.

Have tools, boots, tools, rope, winter camping/hiking experience. Would be stoked to meet up with some experienced climbers willing to help me get into the ice world!

Live in Jersey, about 2 hours from the Catskills. Prefer to climb on weekdays to avoid crowds. Don't mind picking up partners, or giving them rides either.

I don't lead, but I'm more than happy to belay and follow. Have a handful of shiny new ice screws for those willing to brave the extra sharp end.

Also down for North Jersey and Western PA ice climbing. Yes, we do get ice down here.

Sorry to jump on the band wagon but also looking to get into ice this year. Have tools/ boots/ crampons and would be willing to buy beer in exchange for some knowledge!

I am looking for ice climbing partners as well and I live in the Albany area. I also make frequent trips to the Watertown, NY area and know of a few places that are not yet established on Mountain Project. I would love help developing/exploring these areas If you would like to come along and explore them with me..

I am an avid rock climber, but I have no ice experience.

I would like to get out in the Catskills (and ADKS) this winter. I live in Albany and have ice climbed in the Dacks a lot but have never done any climbing in the winter.

I have a decent amount of experience, but NO money for beer, so you'll have to buy that for me ;)

I'm no mentor, but it sounds like maybe I might be in the same situation as some of you guys.

I'm mostly a moderate rock climber but have some intro level experience with ice and alpine climbing and would like to work on this more.

Just moved from Chicago to Boston for school, but I'll be free over the holidays (11/27-12/1 and again end of december/early January) and on and off over the weekends after that. I think I'm going to be near Hudson actually over thanksgiving but I have a car and would drive a ways for something good.

So long as you're not exclusively looking for a mentor (I'm not comfortable taking that kind of responsibility for someone), if any of you want to meet up shoot me a PM.

Hey, I'll add myself to the list. Just moved to NYC from Austria and my ice gear is currently following me via mail. I'd hope I haven't troubled the postman for nothing and would be happy to belay some of you guys. Lead till WI4, depending on how your ice looks like :)

I'd also be more than happy to climb indoors weekday evenings and weekends. Don't know any climbers here yet, so please feel free to contact me!
