Saw this on the news, still not sure what happened though. The photos in the article (if they are from the area he fell at) has some longer, easy runouts at the top to the anchors.
I was up there shortly after he was evacuated (I watched him being loaded into the ambulance).
One of the people still up there told me the faller, after having clipped the first bolt, had subsequently climbed way to the right of the route on easier terrain, thereby bypassing the rest of the bolts and essentially soloing to the chains, had hung a draw in one of the chains, and then had fallen before getting the rope into the draw.
That is bizarre. I remember Gas Boost being pretty straight forward and well protected. It's nice to hear that he will eventually make a full recovery. I wonder what made him decide to skip the direct line and run it out like that.
