You clearly lost your shit years ago. What does that have to do with lost and found?

more classic comeback than a crag-hag riding someone on her trade route

Lol why so angry this morning locker??

I'm not. But I do wonder what the living hell is so wrong with so many, that they don't VALUE their shit ENOUGH to do a SIMPLE check BEFORE leaving an area.

I am amazed every time I open the "Lost and found" section.

Yeah it does amaze me that as medicated as I can be sometimes leaving a crag and I never leave my expensive gear behind. Then non medicated climbers **cough**Greg D**cough** can go out and walk off the crag half naked and not notice.

How many beers would it cost me for you to retrieve one of my bail anchors Locker?

Locker has a great point...I always do an (rack) inventory check before I leave an area and once my pack is on my back and I'm about to go somewhere else, I look around for missed stuff. It takes about 10 seconds.

Mom picked up after me most of my life, how do I get her to follow me around the crags?

It can get tough when a group of three has been swapping trad leads of your gear. A bit easier to just count off quick draws shared on routes, especially if yours is color coded set. Often an innocent miscount by lazy partner leaves you thinking you got all the shit collected when you leave. It all comes out when you get back to the car and unload the pack to sort it out.

^ Not sure exactly what you're saying but I count my rack whether it's sport, trad or partial of either before I leave the base, walkoff...whatever. Plain and simple.

And yes, my gear is marked.

In your scenario, someone else ends up with your shit. That's not that same as someone leaving the shit behind.

The mind always wants to jump to the next thing, it is rarely content with the current moment. It thinks about the future and the past looking for a better reality or a problem. Being lost in thought is an easy way to leave your shit behind.

When you do a stoner check you are consciously focusing on the moment and you are more likely to see your pipe and lighter on the rock where you were sitting. Then you'll notice your shoes and rack on the ground next to the rock...

I have yet to leave gear behind after a climb but if I did I would curse myself for being a dumbass and accept the consequences.

I would never post for lost gear unless a self rescue was involved. Even then I would probably just ask that people don't booty my gear before I had a chance to retrieve it.

I still think you're an idiot flamer flatlander with pretensions of glory, Locker.

Regardless, I'm willing to call a truce and hang out.

Your denial will be your undoing!

I was trying to do a forum fast since I was a dick to ChefMatt (I apologized publicly and he accepted) last week but this one hits home.

Per locker rules I got what I deserved for leaving $350 worth of newer clothing at Turkey Perch. I did post hoping for its return. I did even offer a reward. I have not whined. I do a gear check always but never a clothing check and this day was unusual for me. A very busy crag with only single pitch routes. Lots of people and lots of dogs. Every line taken at the moment. . I pulled everything out of my pack and set it on the only rock available. Then I took my pack to the base of every route we climbed to pile the rope on. It was very warm that day so no thoughts about my clothing. At the end of the day we packed up and headed out. My packed weighed about the same as it did on the way in. So I didn't realize til I got to golden two hours away.

I have returned lots of gear to others over the years even booty. One day I had to bail from a route so I built an anchor. I posted the next day with a riddle to the location of said anchor. And said whomever finds it should keep it. It was fun posting new clues until someone figured it out.

But, locker, I got what I deserved.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
