Looking for possibilities outside of Yosemite that would be good first big walls in the US between February-early April

I have looked at Prodigal Sun & Moonlight Buttress and it sounds appealing, but was looking for other recommendations. looking within the 5.7-5.8 and C1 or C2 range.

Thanks for any opinions!

Check out the Original route on Rainbow wall in Red Rocks Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas.

Touchstone and Spaceshot would be worth considering. They both have GREAT free climbing in addition to a bit of aid. I don't think prodigal is much fun and is quite a bit harder. Moonlight is classic and will likely be crowded (and for good reason)

Epinepherine is a IV if you go up and over the top and hike out.

Colorado NE Ridge on the Kingfisher fits the bill. 5.8 C2, goes in 4 pitches. Despite the Fisher Towers' reputation, this route is so often done that what's left is a pretty clean and solid route. The bolt ladders are kind of boring, but the other pitches are fun. Best part - it's a tower.

Yeah I'd scratch Rainbow Wall Original Route off the list, this thing is a WAY better free climb and you won't get what you're looking for if you want straight forward aid. Touchstone would be a much better choice. Sunny with 5 min approach and you can bail and go drink beer from any point with two ropes… Shoot for a day or fix and fire if you're nervous about time. Enjoy

PosiDave,

Although the Vegas fella's disagree, Rainbow is great. Moderate free on the sections you can't aid. Great ledges up high, and full on adventurous approach and descent. I'm sure it is a better free climb if your at that level, but it's sounds like you're not, I say climb it, then head to Vegas for some fun.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
