It's time to elect a mayor that will actually listen to the voters:

Peyton Robinson for Mayor of Cottonwood Heights.

How does this relate to climbing?

Climbing the political ladder?

Climbers live in the city.

Traffic and access to the Canyons.

Development near the mouth of the Canyons.

Public safety near the canyons (e.g. police, fire)

The privatization of public works (supported by the incumbent) in the city may impact canyon access during bad weather.

I really, Really, REALLY do not want to see this site littered with political endorsements for local candidates. IMHO, there is enough political wankery on this site already.

Thanks for the heads up.

I really don't want someone from Phoenix AZ commenting on what is going on with issues in another climbing area.
Maybe if you would have payed more attention to public issues in Arizona most of the climbing North of Phoenix wouldn't be paved and subdivided now.

Hey Tom, bite me.

My comment had NOTHING to do with "issues in another climbing area." I was commenting on the proliferation of political threads on this site. Next time, try reading and comprehending my post before you act like a sanctimonious ass.

Except that the OP feels that in this case the election is relevant to climbing access.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing that many MP'ers would feel that climbing access was an issue relevant to them and appropriate for the site.

One example: Cottonwood Heights controls access to Ferguson Canyon, they built the trailhead. For those with dogs, this is one of the few areas that you can take a dog cragging. Their officers patrol it and ticket folks on a regular basis (note I do not think we need another dogs at the crag thread, I used this as an example).

If you climb/bike/ski in BCC or LCC and live north of the canyon, this election impacts you in a major way.

On another note: DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE IN COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, EVEN BLOWING A 0.02 WILL BE VERY COSTLY.

If you don't want to read these threads, the first step is not opening them.

Well, in that case, I'm going to move there and vote for the incumbent. Or maybe bring him here to arrest dog owners in the West Trapps parking lot? That could be a win for both of us!

See, this is what makes this kind of dialog critical to the ongoing well-being of this site...

On that note you can have him. Just note that his primary justification for having our own police force is DUIs. Having lived in the gunks (including a stint as a ranger at Minnewaska), I can assure you that all the climbers heading back to the trapps to camp after eating in town will love this new enforcement protocol.

If your old enough to have been around 25+ years ago when I was you'd understand......

I agree politics impacts climbing in may ways. Your good congressman Maurice Hinchey has tried to protect southern Utah for years. I am proud to have voted for him.
