does it make sense or is it possible to climb black orpheaus day one and stash our gear on the descent to save carrying rack and rope for lev 29 on day 2?

Yes it is sensible in a logistical sense. Maybe not an LNT sense though. You should just climb faster and do them both in the same day!

Of course it makes sense to do both in a day, linkups are sweet. And Black Orpheus can go very quickly, especially for a team capable of climbing Lev 29. Just start early.

Jim, when you come down BO into the Painted Bowl after a few raps, on your walk down to the canyon floor you will be angling right. There is a large boulder that is a bit of a landmark to the southwest corner of the bowl. I suggest you stash your gear near that boulder before you descend further, that will be your quickest ascent in the morning. It is also possible to make your way from the top of BO to the base of Rainbow Buttress which is the just a few routes to the right of Lev. Then you could stash your gear near the base of the route.

That's a lot of hiking! You're gonna be sick of boulder hopping by the end. The stash sounds like a good idea an the area by that blocky boulder that is suggested is a pretty obvious point. Good luck! Linkup or not, that'll be proud!

it is average exercise for the decently fit person...I do it all the time running separate parites up Eagle Wall back to back in the winter...enjoy your trip Jim

I'd be careful about posting your intentions of stashing gear at any climbing area near Vegas. Some people in this town will take your stuff . If you do chose this course of action, keep this in mind.

Ha! And then they will blame others!

Dow hints at this, but I don't think quite mentions it.
There are several approaches that are WAY faster then the original Eagle wall approach.
There's plenty of info out there about them, it will make your Lev29 day better.
I'd suggest leaving your gear higher closer to the Eagle wall. There are a couple of sweet "hiding" spots for gear, I've used them a couple of times with no problems.

Have fun!

very logical and smart idea. When I did Levitation 29, we stashed my gear and rope at the base of the wall and came back the next day to do Eagle Dance. Hands down the most tiring weekend of my life. That approach is killer with two long routes back to back and ended up doing a 4 hour descent after toping out on Eagle Dance

That will be a great accomplishment and really fast climbing

Dow what do you mean "running separate parties up..."?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
