NRG Bridge Buttress tale

I heard a tale while climbing at the New River Gorge. It went a bit like this - climber showed up with a bottle of bourbon and no rope at the Bridge Buttress. Started running free solo laps on one of climbs, while indulging in frequent refreshment; this lead to the inevitable finish of his climbing.
This is where a story takes a fork - one line has MedEvac involved, the other just a shovel.

Can anyone provide any details?

Just read that one a couple of days ago in 2012's Accident Journal, page 105.
Summary: a fifth of vodka+3 beers+free soloing=MedEvac with severe multiple-system injuries.

on a related note ... if you climb alot in squamish youll have met a certain person in the bluffs who solos all over the places with a few beers and some weed ... hes been doing it for a long time

a few years ago he fell off penny lane half way up ... it is theorized that he is only alive because the alcohol relaxed his body enough that there was no tension in it when he hit the ground, preventing more serious injuries ...

hes still soloing every sunny day ...
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
