The National Forests are shut down also. All National Forest campgrounds are gated and shut. It is my understanding that most trailheads are also gated.

If Linville is inside Pisgah National Forest then it is open. Faciltys are closed such as bathrooms and staff offices but we climbed in Cedar Rock all weekend and saw no signs of a shutdown. Other climbers, campers and hikers all over the place.

Linville Gorge is open, I climbed there on Saturday. The only gate on the road to the gorge is to get to the Table Rock picnic area (which is open). The rest of the trailheads are right off of the road with no gates. I believe the bathrooms are even open, but I did not check.
So far all I have seen closed in the Chattahoochee National Forest and Pisgah have been the bathrooms and I try not to use them because just like our government they stink and are full of crap

For those of you who have been there since the shutdown:
Was anyone camping? Just curious, since it seems there will be no permits available.
I am headed to Linville Gorge this weekend looking to climb in Shortoff and Ampitheater. I have never been here and will not have a guide book. If anyone can offer some info on access to the climbing please PM me. Just looking for general approach and decent beta so we don't waste our whole weekend wandering in the woods. Ive done that too many times.
If anyone is going to be in the area climbing this weekend a 12 pack of beer will be offered for in person beta.
Any updates on camping at the Table Rock lot? Im looking to go up there mon-wed but want to make sure the gates are open before I drive all the way up there. Not worried about the bathrooms, just that the gates are open.
I camped this past week end on the babel tower side and it was packed every where. Every thing but bathrooms was open, even the falls. You should be fine on the other side as well.
