So looking for a warmer down Jacket I have the marmot ama dablam down jacket. It's not that warm for winter use. Does anyone have suggestion on their favorite winter down jacket for climbing use.

Not a down jacket, but the Patagonia DAS parka kicks big time ass in the warmth category. I use a power stretch, Nano puff jacket, soft shell while climbing. DAS parka while belaying or toking a bowl.

Rab Neutrino Endurance or Mammut Stratus (synthetic) for ice belays; Arcteryx Atom LT (synthetic) for pretty much every other layering opportunity.

Being a gear whore I also have to give a nod to the OR chaos (synthetic) and the Montbell Alpine Light down parka.

The rab is pretty burly and it warm as all get out.

cragging belay jacket: Mt Hardwear SubZero
on routes/backcountry: Eddie Bauer First Ascent Mt Guide

Both are reinforced on the arms/shoulders so less chance of tears. Patagonia used to make a nearly indestructible down jacket, but switched over to super light material.

MH subzero is a nice belay jacket. Very warm, water resistant, durable, comfy hand warming pockets, a large inner pocket, the draw string cinches up well at the bottom of the jacket.

I wore a Wild Things jacket for a day last winter. The jacket was very warm and fit great. If I didn't own the most expensive belay jacket on earth I would buy from Wild Things. You can customize the colors if you want too. I would at least check out their website if you're in the market for a warm belay jacket.

I have a black ice jacket from montane. It is not sewn through construction, instead it is box-wall and I bet there are fewer jackets that are warmer for the weight. The built in neck gaiter style hood also seals in a ridiculous amount of heat if it really gets chilly. My only gripe is the outer fabric is not as tough as on heavier jackets, but of course that is the price you pay for the weight savings.

I'd second the Das Parka option. Great for belays when ice climbing and warm enough I've only ever needed it once in ten years and thousands of outings in Colorado.

Reb Neutrino Plus ... Now made with hydrophobic down.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
